Platons Kritik an Geld und Reichtum

Diese Arbeit untersucht die radikale Kritik an Reichtum und Gelderwerb, die Platons Werk von den Frühdialogen über die Politeia bis zu den Nomoi durchzieht. Platons Position soll dabei nicht auf aristokratische Vorurteile zurückgeführt, sondern mit einem seiner zentralen philosophischen Anliegen in Verbindung gebracht werden: der Etablierung einer revisionären Vorstellung von aretê, die mit Gelderwerb in Konflikt steht.
This study examines the radical critique of wealth and moneymaking that permeates Plato's works from the early dialogues to the Republic and the Laws. The author shows that Plato’s position on wealth should not be ascribed to aristocratic prejudices, but instead brought into relation with one of his core philosophical beliefs: the establishment of an original conception of aretê (virtue) that conflicts with moneymaking.
