Neue Armut, Exklusion, Prekarität: Debatten um Armut in Frankreich und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, 1970–1990

After long neglect, the issue of poverty returned to political discourse after the 1970s in France and West Germany. Encapsulated by the catchword “the new poverty,” material states of deprivation now came into focus as they persisted domestically despite economic growth and the expansion of the social state. The study analyzes this discourse and examines the reasons for the political rediscovery of poverty.
